If you have any very important work related to your bank branch this week, like depositing a cheque, getting a new draft made or updating your passbook, then before stepping out of the house, do check the latest list of holidays released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). According to the official holiday calendar of RBI, this week all government and private banks including State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB) may remain closed for a maximum of three days in different states of the country. In such a situation, you can avoid any possible problem by using digital banking.

Three days holiday due to Kharchi Puja and fourth Saturday

According to the holiday schedule, today 19th July 2026 (Sunday), due to weekly holiday, public transactions are completely closed across the country. After this, in the middle of this week i.e. 22 July (Wednesday) On the auspicious occasion of Kharchi Puja, a holiday has been declared in banks at the regional level in Tripura (Agartala). At the end of the week Fourth Saturday of the month on 25th July Due to this, bank branches will remain completely closed in all the states of the country. This means that in states like Tripura, banks will not function for a total of three days this week, while banks in other parts of the country will remain closed for two days (Sunday and fourth Saturday).

All these digital banking services will remain operational even if branches are closed.

The matter of relief is that despite the physical closure of bank branches, financial and non-financial services to customers will not be affected. In the era of Digital India, the following facilities will remain functional 24 hours:

  • Online Transaction: Like before, customers can send money to anyone through UPI, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking.

  • ATM & Bill Payment: All ATMs will remain operational normally for cash withdrawal. Along with this, online bill paying, balance checking and merchant payment facilities will be available uninterrupted.

  • Maintenance Alert: However, sometimes some digital services may be interrupted for a short period of time due to system maintenance or server upgradation by banks, about which banks give advance notice to their customers through SMS or email.

Know next week’s schedule and timing of banks

Under RBI rules, banks are kept closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays of every month. It is a matter of relief that after this week i.e. Till 1st August 2026 except 26th July (Sunday) There is no special or regional holiday scheduled in any state, due to which work will remain normal throughout the next week. On normal days, bank timings for customer transactions are fixed from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, although some branch timings are subject to slight variation as per local regulations. Consumers are advised to settle all their urgent work before or after these holidays to avoid inconvenience.
