The Pharmacy Officer recruitment examination being conducted for the youth of Punjab is once again under the shadow of paper leak and cheating mafia. However, the Special Task Force and Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police took a very big and prompt action in time and completely foiled the plans of the gang who had sabotaged the examination. Based on intelligence inputs, the police conducted rapid raids at different examination centers and suspicious locations in the state just before the commencement of the examination, which has created panic in the entire administrative staff and the education department.
7 masterminds and 35 suspects in custody: deal worth lakhs of rupees
Tightening the noose on this entire high-tech racket, the police have so far arrested 7 masterminds, who were operating this entire network. Along with this, more than 35 examinees and middlemen from different districts are also being detained and interrogated. Initial investigation has revealed that this gang had made a deal of Rs 10 to 15 lakh with each candidate in the name of getting a government job. Police have also recovered huge amount of cash, mobile phones, admit cards and blank checks of several banks from the accused.
Hi-tech imitation trap: Use of Bluetooth devices and secret gadgets
This gang that was caught was very vicious and equipped with modern methods. To facilitate cheating inside the examination centres, this gang had provided special electronic devices to the candidates with very small and invisible micro-Bluetooth earphones, cameras hidden in shirt buttons and SIM card slots. According to the plan, as soon as the examination started, the pictures of the question paper were to be sent to the solver gang sitting outside, from where the answer key was to be prepared and the answers were to be told to the students sitting inside the examination hall through these hi-tech gadgets. But with the help of technical surveillance, the police dismantled this entire trap even before the examination started.
Government’s tough stance: Chief Minister ordered strict investigation and made security arrangements
After this big expose, the Punjab Government and the Chief Minister’s Office have taken a very strict stance. The government has made it clear that playing with the future of the youth and the sanctity of examinations will not be tolerated at any cost in the state. The Director General (DGP), taking command of the entire case, has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will investigate the interstate connections of this gang. Along with this, instructions have been issued to install jammers at all the examination centers and make biometric verification more stringent so that such incidents can be completely prevented in future.
