The Allahabad High Court made a strong comment on the theft of Ram Temple donations, saying, “Nothing in the world can embarrass those who are not affected by this.”

Allahabad High Court located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh has made very strong and frank comments on the increasing corruption and administrative system in the country. During the hearing of an important case, the court said that in a society where people remain careless even when incidents like theft and misappropriation of donations take place at a holy place like Ram Temple, there is no scope left to be embarrassed by anything. The court has expressed deep concern over the tendency to accept corruption as normal in the society and has described it as dangerous as termites.

Court’s tough stance on theft of Ram temple donations

Referring to the case of theft of donations and donations received in Ayodhya’s Ram temple, Justice Atul Sreedharan made sharp remarks in his 51-page detailed judgment. He said that the case of theft of donations in Ram temple has crossed all limits. If even thefts at such holy places cannot shock or embarrass people, then no incident in the world can embarrass them. This is proof of to what extent the level of honesty has fallen in the society.

‘Corruption is not wrong until someone is caught’

Making a scathing comment, the court said that the common people of India have now accepted corruption as a normal thing. People do not consider any action as wrong until a bribe taker is caught red handed. Citing the report of Transparency International, the court said that India’s ranking at 91st place in the list of 182 countries is not enough to shake our conscience. Due to the increasing rampant corruption in the country, immense wealth is being accumulated in the hands of a few people, due to which the gap between the rich and the poor is widening. To curb this situation, the court has given a serious suggestion to amend the ‘Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988’ and give even death penalty to the culprits.

High Court bluntly on ‘bulldozer justice’ and illegal construction

This entire decision came during the hearing of a case related to the government’s bulldozer action, in which both the judges of the bench had different opinions. Talking on ‘Bulldozer Justice’, the court said that demolishing houses immediately after the crime is like quenching the ‘thirst for blood’ of the society which is ripe with this illegal culture. The court said that despite the clear guidelines of the Supreme Court, demolition is going on indiscriminately.

The court also added that no illegal building comes up overnight. There is collusion of officials and huge bribery behind this. But after decades, the consequences of this have to be borne by the innocent flat or house buyer who has to become homeless without any notice. The court made it clear that by providing government facilities like electricity and water to such illegal buildings, the government and administration also becomes an equal partner in this crime.
