On Monday (27 July 2026), the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has issued a strict ultimatum, seriously accusing the Central Government of breach of promise. The party says that the government and its police agencies are openly violating the written and verbal agreement on the basis of which the movement was ended. ‘If demands are not met, students will take to the streets again’

Ashutosh Ranka clearly said in his post that the government had assured not to take any legal or police action against the protesters. Despite this, hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal. Whereas in states like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, protesters are being monitored and mentally harassed. Police are also detaining volunteers who provide food and accommodation facilities (logistics) to the youth protesting at Jantar Mantar or other places in Delhi. The CJP has demanded that all the FIRs lodged should be immediately withdrawn, the arrested students should be released immediately and a written copy of the agreement related to legal protection should be handed over to them by Tuesday (28 July 2026). If this does not happen, the party will once again start a big movement across the country.

Agreement was signed on July 25, now questions of breach of promise arise

The matter is that after the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on July 25, CJP had withdrawn its 37-day nationwide protest. At that time a consensus was reached between the Central Government, representatives of CJP and prominent environmentalist and activist Sonam Wangchuk. In this conversation, it was decided that the cases registered against the protesters would be withdrawn, the intimidating action of the police would be stopped and a strict anti-paper leak law would be brought in the country. But now CJP says that the government is going back on its promise and retaliatory action is being taken through the police of BJP ruled or NDA allied states.

Saurav Das expressed concern over police action in Assam, Bengal and Bihar

On this entire incident, CJP’s chief spokesperson Saurav Das has also expressed deep sorrow over the news of arrests coming from Assam, West Bengal and Bihar. He said that such breaking of trust by the Central Government is not at all tolerable for the youth of the country. Saurav Das clarified that the party had called off its nationwide protest only on the condition that no punitive action would be taken against the protesters in any state. In such a situation, targeting of students and youth by different state police and central investigating agencies is completely against the spirit of the agreement.
