After the results of the Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd 2026) entrance exam are out for the youth who dream of becoming teachers in Bihar, the counseling process is now in full swing. This time’s figures have made it clear that the competition for admission in educational institutions across the state is going to be very tough. According to the data of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), this year many times more students have succeeded in the examination than the total seats of D.El.Ed, due to which the situation has become such that on an average there is a tough competition among six candidates for a single seat.

A total of about 30,700 seats are available under the two-year D.El.Ed course in various government and private educational institutions of Bihar. In contrast, out of lakhs of candidates who appeared for the entrance exam, more than 1.65 lakh students have been declared successful. Considering the limited number of seats and the huge number of candidates passing, it has been estimated that about 6 candidates are staking their claim for each seat. In such a situation, the level of competition is going to be very high this time.

What are the rules for getting seats in government colleges?

The first choice of every candidate is government colleges with low fees and better facilities. As per the clear guidelines of the board, the seats of government colleges will be filled first on priority basis during the counseling process. The allotment list for private colleges will be released only after the seats of government institutions are completely filled. Only those students who have good marks and top merit list will be allotted seats in government colleges in the first phase.

Successful candidates will have to choose the colleges of their choice very wisely. During online counselling, candidates have to fill the choices of institutions (College Priority) keeping in mind their rank and reservation rules. If your marks are good, then opt for government colleges first in the list and only then give place to private colleges.
