Oil prices remained stable in most major cities of Uttar Pradesh today, while minor fluctuations were observed in some districts due to local transportation cost (freight charge) and tax adjustments.

In different districts of Uttar Pradesh, there is a difference of a few rupees in the prices depending on the VAT imposed by the state government and the distance from the depot. Today’s retail prices in big cities of the state have been recorded as follows:

Lucknow: Today in the capital Lucknow, the price of petrol is around ₹ 94.65 to ₹ 94.75 per liter and the price of diesel is around ₹ 87.75 to ₹ 87.85 per liter.

Noida/Greater Noida: Petrol is available at ₹94.66 per liter and diesel at ₹87.76 per liter in Gautam Buddha Nagar district under NCR.

Ghaziabad: Today in Ghaziabad, the price of petrol has been recorded at ₹94.58 per liter and the price of diesel has been recorded at ₹87.67 per liter.

Kanpur: In Kanpur city, 1 liter petrol is being sold between ₹ 94.50 to ₹ 94.60 and diesel between ₹ 87.60 to ₹ 87.70.

Varanasi: Due to depot transportation in religious city Varanasi, petrol is at the level of ₹ 95.10 per liter and diesel at ₹ 88.25 per liter.

Agra: Petrol price in Tajnagari Agra is ₹94.45 per liter and diesel price is ₹87.55 per liter.

Prayagraj: In Sangam city Prayagraj, petrol is stable at ₹ 95.20 per liter and diesel at ₹ 88.35 per liter.

Gorakhpur: In Gorakhpur, the major city of eastern Uttar Pradesh, petrol is available at the price of ₹ 94.85 per liter and diesel at ₹ 87.95 per liter.

Meerut: In Meerut, the price of petrol has been recorded at ₹94.55 per liter and the price of diesel has been recorded at ₹87.65 per liter.

Why is there difference in prices in different districts of UP? VAT and freight math
