The company has officially launched the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 in India on the historic occasion of 10 years of its most popular and trusted adventure tourer brand ‘Himalayan’. The biggest and decisive change of Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is seen in its powertrain. The company has given it a new 443cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder long-stroke air/oil-cooled engine. This refined engine generates maximum power of 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm and peak torque of 34 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Fulfilling the biggest demand in this new bike compared to the 5-speed gearbox of the old Himalayan 411. 6-speed manual gearbox Has been included. The company claims that the introduction of the additional sixth gear will not put pressure on the engine during long highway journeys and at the cruising speed of 100 to 110 km per hour, the bike will run like butter without any vibration. Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is built on a half-duplex split cradle frame. At the front, it has 41mm telescopic front forks, which offer a hefty suspension travel of 200mm. At the rear, there is a monoshock suspension with linkage, which provides 180mm wheel travel. The bike has a large 21-inch wire-spoke wheel at the front and a 17-inch spoke wheel at the rear. The 21-inch front wheel helps the bike roll over easily on stones, sand and unpaved roads. For braking duty, a 300mm disc brake has been provided at the front and 240mm disc brake at the rear. To improve safety, it has been provided with dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard, which riders fond of off-roading and drifting can also ‘switch-off’ (Switchable ABS) on the rear wheel as per their wish.
Visually, the Himalayan 440 brings back the iconic and rough-and-tough silhouette of the original ‘OG’ Himalayan, which was loved in India and abroad. It has round LED headlamps, strong external metal luggage mounts and a high windscreen. A new digital-analogue instrument cluster has been installed in the cockpit, which provides clear information of speedometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge and trip meter. Along with this, Royal Enfield’s ‘Tripper Navigation’ system showing turn-by-turn directions and waterproof USB Type-C charging socket has been provided for charging the smartphone. For touring enthusiasts, the company has also provided the option of dozens of customized accessories like hard aluminum panniers, top box, touring seats, adventure handguards and engine guards.
