Apple launches first foldable phone ‘iPhone Duo’: passport design, 7.6-inch inner screen and A20 Pro chip; Know the price and powerful features in India

Global tech giant Apple takes the much-awaited step into the foldable smartphone market with its first foldable phone. iPhone Duo Has been officially presented. Apple is calling it “the biggest and most revolutionary change since the original iPhone,” years after foldable models from Samsung, Google and OnePlus. The new iPhone Duo fits in the hand like a compact passport when folded and provides an immersive tablet-like experience when unfolded, becoming the thinnest iPhone ever. The company has designed it with Grade-5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 glass coating and IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

The iPhone Duo features two different high-end Super Retina XDR OLED displays:

• Inner (Main) Display: When unfolded, it becomes a huge 7.6-inch display screen. The screen supports a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz, always-on display, and a peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits. With the help of a special nano-texture finish and 10 ultra-thin layers, the creases of the screen have been made almost invisible. This screen will also support USB-C Apple Pencil.

• Outer (Cover) Display: A 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display has been provided on the outside of the phone, which when closed works like a normal compact smartphone.

The phone’s hinge is made from over 100 carbon-fibre and 3D printed polymer parts, allowing it to be used in 90-degree (laptop mode), tent mode or at any desired angle.

Apple changed several traditional designs in the iPhone Duo:

• Side-mounted Touch ID: Face ID has been removed in this foldable model. Instead of fingerprint sensor based in side power button Touch ID Provided, which can instantly unlock the phone from any angle.

• No SIM Tray (eSIM Only): The physical SIM tray has been removed entirely to maximize battery space; This phone will work only on eSIM.
