Before the start of the month of August, important news has come out for bank customers. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI, all government and private banks including SBI, HDFC and ICICI are going to remain closed for a total of 14 days this month. These holidays include Sundays and second-fourth Saturdays as well as local festivals and national holidays of many states. In such a situation, if you have any important work related to the bank, then make your plan well in advance so that you do not have to face any kind of problem.

Complete list and dates of holidays in August 2026

This month, bank customers are going to get many days long holidays. Talking about weekly holidays, banks will remain closed on 2nd August, 9th August, 16th August, 23rd August and 30th August as they are Sundays. Apart from this, second Saturday is on 8th August and fourth Saturday is on 22nd August. Talking about regional festivals, there will be holiday in bank branches on the occasion of Ker Puja in Agartala on 4th August, Tendong Lho Room Phat in Gangtok on 8th August and Patriots Day in Imphal on 13th August.

There will be holidays in these cities due to festivals

Banks will remain closed according to festivals in different states across the country. Bank branches will remain closed across the country on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day and Parsi New Year. After this, there will be a holiday on August 19 in Agartala due to Maharaja Bir Bikram Jayanti, on August 25 in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada due to Onam and Milad-un-Nabi. The maximum holidays are on 26th and 28th August, in which work will be halted in many big cities including Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and Patna due to festivals like Eid-e-Milad, Rakshabandhan and Shri Narayan Guru Jayanti.

Digital banking services will remain fully operational

Despite physical bank branches being closed, customers do not need to panic. All digital services like UPI, NEFT, RTGS, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking will continue to function normally around the clock. You will be able to easily transfer money and make online bill payments sitting at home. However, some special offline work like check clearance or visiting the bank will not be possible on holidays, hence it would be better to use digital means only.
