Wednesday was a great day for investors of Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Power. After the official announcement by the company of entering the field of future technology i.e. Artificial Intelligence (AI), the shares of Reliance Power witnessed a stormy rise. As soon as the market opened, the company’s shares jumped by more than 17 percent to reach Rs 29.40 on BSE. This rise has come at a time when Reliance Power is trying to completely transform its business structure and prepare it for the future digital revolution.

Strategy of 4 subsidiaries changed for AI business

Reliance Power has informed through regulatory filing that it has taken important steps to make Artificial Intelligence and new technology based activities a part of its business framework. To accelerate this change, the company has also changed the naming of its four important subsidiaries. Now these companies will be known as ‘Reliance AI Green Power Private Limited’, ‘Reliance AI Power Private Limited’, ‘Reliance AI Data Control Private Limited’ and ‘Reliance AI Data Sea Private Limited’. The clear objective of these changes is to shift the company from the traditional power sector to the emerging market of technology-enabled services.

Challenges on the financial front, but investors’ enthusiasm remains intact

However, the company’s recent financial situation has been a bit challenging. Reliance Power has suffered a consolidated loss of Rs 494 crore in the fourth quarter of FY 2026, whereas the company had a profit of Rs 125.57 crore in the same period last year. Even during the entire financial year 2026, the company’s loss has been Rs 336.89 crore. Despite this, the company’s new ambitious entry into the AI sector has been received positively by the market. The company has already rewarded its shareholders by giving them bonus shares in the ratio of 3:5, due to which there is curiosity among the promoters and public investors about the future of the company.

Preparing for the future: Will the company’s fortunes change?

This step of Reliance Power shows that the company no longer wants to be limited to just power generation. Stepping into data control and AI-based services is a major strategic initiative of Anil Ambani’s company. According to the data of March 2026, the promoter’s stake in the company is 24.98 percent, while 75.02 percent is held by the public. Market analysts believe that if Reliance Power successfully implements its AI projects, it could prove to be a big turning point for the company.
