The mortal remains of late Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankhar reached his native district Baghpat late on Tuesday night. A police team led by senior Tripura Police officials and ADGP (Law and Order) reached Baraut with his mortal remains. At present, his body has been kept for the last darshan at the residence of his younger brother Raviraj on Gandhi Road, Baraut, where a large number of relatives, dignitaries and local residents are paying emotional tribute to him. His last rites will be performed with state honors in Baraut at around 9 am on Wednesday, in which many senior administrative and police officials will attend.
The journey from an ordinary family to becoming an IPS
The early life of Anurag Dhankhar, originally from Biharipur village of Baghpat district, was quite struggling and inspiring. He was born in an old mansion in Biharipur village and completed his primary education from the village school. After this, he obtained Intermediate degree from Sarurpur Khedki College and B.Sc (Agriculture) degree from Janata Vedic College, Baraut. On the basis of his hard work, he was first selected for the post of Field Officer in Syndicate Bank, Baraut, but his dream was to join the Civil Services. Continuing his preparation with a bank job, he became an IPS officer of 1994 batch and brought glory to his entire region by getting Tripura cadre.
There is mourning in the village, ancestral mansion has been closed for years
As soon as the news of the sudden demise of DGP Anurag Dhankhar was received, a wave of mourning has spread in his native village Biharipur and the entire Baraut area. The villagers and relatives waited the whole day for the arrival of his mortal remains. While sharing old memories, the people of the village said that their entire family once lived in this mansion of Biharipur, but after getting jobs, everyone settled outside and this mansion has been locked for the last many years. According to local people, he last came to his village about 25 years ago to attend a wedding ceremony. At present, there is an atmosphere of sadness in the entire family and area due to this tragic incident.
