Married Man, 19-Year-Old Woman Found Hanging from Same Noose in Agra; Police Suspect Suicide Pact

A tragic incident sent shockwaves across Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district after a 22-year-old married man and a 19-year-old woman were found hanging from the same noose inside a residential house. The incident, which unfolded in Rahankala village under the Etmadpur police station limits, is suspected to be a suicide pact stemming from an alleged romantic relationship that faced insurmountable familial and social opposition.

Discovery of Bodies During Festive Absence

According to local police reports, the woman’s family members had left the village to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Taking advantage of their absence, the young man reportedly visited her house. Sometime later, neighbors and returning family members were met with the horrific scene of both individuals hanging together from the ceiling. The discovery drew a massive crowd of local residents to the site, prompting frantic calls to the police control room.

Alleged Relationship and Upcoming Marriage Trigger Extreme Step

Preliminary inquiries by investigating officers revealed that the man was already married, while the 19-year-old woman’s marriage had recently been arranged and finalized with someone else by her family. Investigators suspect that the impending wedding and the social impossibility of their union led the two to take the fatal step. Authorities are thoroughly probing whether the woman’s fixed marriage served as the immediate trigger for the suspected pact.

Forensic Examination and Administrative Probe Underway

Upon receiving the alert, senior police personnel, including Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Etmadpur Devesh Singh, rushed to the spot along with a specialized forensic field unit. Crime scene investigators cordoned off the premises, lifted physical evidence, and recovered the rope used in the incident. The bodies were subsequently taken into police custody and sent to the district mortuary for an autopsy.

Senior police officials stated that while initial visual evidence points toward suicide, the police department is pursuing all angles, including the possibility of foul play.
