Key Highlights of the Announcement

• Target Groups: The proposed hike and beneficiary expansion cover three primary categories under state social welfare:

  • Old Age Pension (वृद्धावस्था पेंशन) for senior citizens

  • Destitute Women/Widow Pension (निराश्रित महिला पेंशन)

  • Divyangjan Pension (दिव्यांगजन पेंशन) for persons with disabilities

• Increased Financial Support: The state government plans to raise the monthly allowance—currently disbursed at ₹1,000 per month—to provide better relief against rising living costs.

• Expanded Beneficiary Base: District administrations and social welfare departments have been directed to conduct fresh drives and streamline verification (including Aadhaar linking and e-KYC) to identify eligible individuals left out of existing schemes.

• Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): All revised pension amounts will continue to be credited quarterly directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts to eliminate intermediaries and delays.
